Church of St Barbara in Sedlec

The first a jewel of the late Gothic period, and the second a perfect example of the Baroque taste of the early 18th century.
Unesco

Sedlec Ossuary

What makes the ossuary so unique is the artistic use of … human bones and skulls to create decorations for the chapel. There are garlands and chandeliers made of bones and skulls!
Unesco

Church of the Assumption of Our Lady

Together with the Sedlec Ossuary, this church makes up a comprehensive complex of the oldest part of Kutná Hora. The cathedral was built in 1290 – 1320

Stages levels

Regular Stages

Regular stages are designed for avid cyclists who love to ride every cm of the loop. They are long and on many different kind of terrains. Sometimes specific sections of the route need good sense of orientation and love for maps. E-bikes strongly recommended for occasional cyclists.

Shorter Variants

Shorter variants are designed for more casual cyclists and families and combine bike and train and the easiest terrain when possible. If trains allow us we like to design two shorter versions: one slightly longer for those wh owould like to challenge themselves and one much shorter for those who want to play it safe.

Road Bike Stages

Road Bike stage are designed specifically for racing bikes so are normally long as the regular stages or more and they follow small back roads with good asphalt as much as possible. Easy gravel or patched asphalt sections are present from time to time when unavoidable but for real short distances.

Today stage is shorter to allow you to see the many things that Kutna Hora has to offer. But that is not the only reason. We want to keep your legs quite fresh for tomorrow. In fact tomorrow stage doesn't offer much train help so even the shorter version is a bit challenging.

Regular stage - 56 km

Regular stage - 56 km

Start: Jiřího náměstí , Poděbrady (main square)

Finish: Palackého Namesti, Kutna Hora (main square)

This stage has some rough natural parts. If you wish a smooth ride, then the Direct Variant is for you.

Today you will start riding along the Elbe river on cycling path 2. The first path is very smooth but later on it becomes a natural rough trail. If you wish to ride smooth (but a bit more boring), in the village of Velky Osek just follow the Eurovelo cycling path all the way to Kolin where you will rejoin the regular route (MAPA). The town of Kolin, will welcome you after 20 km. We recommend taking a look at the impressive Gothic cathedral, Saint Bartholomew.

After a coffee or a hearty lunch or a beer you will leave town (be careful, some sections have a bit of traffic), and soon enter a very nice valley made by the small river Polepka, famous for the many mills and nice landscape. Although this route is marked as cycling path, the riding here is once again rough with even some sections that need pushing. Once on the other side, at Ratboř village you can quickly check the two chateaux (the new one, now a boutique Hotel, was designed by the famous Czech architect Jan Kotěra and was built in 1911-1913 in Neoclassical mansion) before rolling over the hills that will take you all the way to Kutna Hora. Before riding down the last one, which will take you to the bone cathedral, check out Havirska Bouda, the lookout tower above Kutna Hora.

Stage lenght: 56 km / Gain: 500 mt
